Out and About Thrifting My Life Away

People always ask me what do I do with my spare time. I giggle and say "what spare time"? When you are a "thrifter" it never ends. And your mind never stops.Your mind is always thinking about the "hunt". What will I find at the next Goodwill, or thrift store. It doesn't matter where or when, just finding some cool items is enough for me. Yes, I would say it's an obbsession, maybe an attiction. But, I believe it's the thrill of the hunt. And it never ends. I have been doing this for more than 40yrs. I even furnished my first apartment with my tagsale finds. So check out some of my recent finds in my Etsy shop. Why Do We Dress The Way We Do?

What is it about women that make them seem carefree and crazy? Are they eclectic or just happy being who they are? Just a few examples that come to mind are Iris Apfel, that wonderful 90 year old women who wears big glasses and lots of lipstick. Frida Kahlo the wonderful painter from Mexico who didn't let a horrible accident get in her way of painting some of the most bizarre masterpieces every.  Maybe a better word would be eccentric I kinda like that description. Women like Marlene Dietrich who had such a sexual appeal to both men and women. Janis Joplin with that Bohemian devil may care attitude. Think of the short time she was here on this earth and the lasting impact of her music to this day. Words like hippie, Bohemian, gypsy, flower child, hipster, or just plain old strange. Is it the clothes that make a women eclectic or is she already it? Are clothes are just a reflection of how we feel from the outside. As I get older, I do feel a bit more relax in what I wear. It doesn't matter what your clothes say about "you" personally. It's is how you feel about yourself that matters. Hey, if you are happy and can still fit in it....go for it.
